Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic

NBA Finals Game Four
Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic (Lakers lead 2-1)
Thursday, 9:05 pm Eastern – ABC

SBG Global Opening Line: Magic - 3 , Total 202

The Orlando Magic shot lights out on Tuesday and got back into the NBA Finals as they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 108-104. Orlando’s shooting was so good (63 percent) that it set an NBA Finals record. "They pretty much made all their shots," Lakers forward Trevor Ariza said.

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Lakers on the Road.

The Magic now are back in the NBA Finals and they could even the series with a win on Thursday. If they come back to win this series they would become only the fourth team in NBA history to come back after losing the first two games. "Why not?" Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu said. "We believe in each other and as long as we're playing our game, our system and fighting for 48 minutes - why not?"

Even though the Magic shot the ball extremely well, the Lakers still had a chance in Game 3. Kobe Bryant scored 31 points for the Lakers but he simply played poorly down the stretch. He had just 10 points in the second half, missed a key free throw late and committed a costly turnover in the last minute. "It was a bad night," he said.

Orlando had five players score at least 18 points in Game 3. "We lost two games, but there's no need to roll over," Dwight Howard said. "It's a seven-game series. A team has to beat you four times to end the series and we felt good knowing that we had three games at home."

The Lakers know they lost the game because they didn’t play much defense.
"We lost this game on the defensive end," Kobe Bryant said. "We had been playing very good defense and the team tonight shoots 62 percent from the field."

Here are the NBA betting stats for Thursday’s game. The Lakers are 23-8-2 ATS in their last 33 games as a road underdog. The Lakers are 2-11-1 ATS in their last 14 NBA Championship games. The Lakers are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Orlando.

The Magic are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Magic are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Western Conference.

SBG Global Current Line: Magic - 2.5 , Total 201

The Over is 5-1 in the Lakers last 6 games as a road underdog. The Under is 10-3 in the Lakers last 13 overall. The Under is 27-12 in Orlando’s last 39 games as a home favorite. The Over is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in Orlando between the two teams.

NBA Finals Game Three

NBA Finals Game Three
Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic (Lakers lead 2-0)
Tuesday, 9:05 pm Eastern – ABC

SBG Global Opening Line: Magic - 4 , Total 198.5

The Orlando Magic had a chance in the NBA Finals to make the Los Angeles Lakers sweat and it remains to be seen if they get another one. Courtney Lee missed a layup with less than a second remaining in Game 2 and the Magic ended up losing Game 2 in overtime. Now the series shifts to Orlando where the Magic face a must-win Game 3 on Tuesday.

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Magic at Home.

The Lakers realize they could have lost on Sunday and Kobe Bryant has promised they will play better on Tuesday. "We're about to kick it up," he said. "You'd better believe it. We're close. You see what I'm saying? This is the finals. We're going to be ready to go." The Lakers have been an up and down team during the playoffs but Pau Gasol believes that is over. "We're playing tougher," Gasol said. "We understand what it takes to go get the championship."

The problem for Orlando is NBA history. Only three teams have won an NBA title after losing the first two games. "We've just got to go home and take care of business," Magic center Dwight Howard said. "The Lakers did a good job of protecting their home, and now it's our turn to do the same thing. We've been in some tough situations. We've just got to fight our way out."

Orlando has a number of issues they must correct if they are to make this into a series. The first problem is turnovers. They had 20 turnovers in Game 2 and their point guards were awful. Rafer Alston and Jameer Nelson have played very poorly and Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy had to go to Hedo Turkoglu to run the point for a while. "We were just trying to see if we could get somebody out there who would make shots off of the double teams and off the pick-and-rolls and things like that," Van Gundy said. "I thought our guys fought hard, but we couldn't make enough plays. And the 20 turnovers crushed us."

Here are the NBA betting stats for Tuesday’s game. The Lakers are 22-8-2 ATS in their last 32 games as a road underdog. The Lakers are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings.

The Magic are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 playoff games as a favorite.

SBG Global Current Line: Magic - 4 , Total 198

The Under is 10-1 in the Lakers last 11 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Under is 11-5 in the Lakers last 16 road games. The Under is 7-2 in Orlando’s last 9 playoff games as a favorite. The Over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Orlando between the two teams.

NBA Finals Game One

NBA Finals Game One
Orlando Magic at Los Angeles Lakers
Thursday, 9:05 pm Eastern – ABC

SBG Global Opening Line: Lakers - 6 , Total 206

The NBA Finals begin on Thursday night in Los Angeles as Kobe Bryant and the Lakers host Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic. Los Angeles is back in the NBA Finals for the second consecutive year and 30th time in franchise history while the Magic are in the NBA Finals for the second time in their history.

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Lakers at Home.

The matchup between the Magic and Lakers should be a good one as Orlando has the dominating presence of Howard while the Lakers have Kobe. The Lakers will try and control Howard with three big men, Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom. He's a unique kind of player," Pau Gasol said about Howard, "I don't think there have been many players like him because of his physical gifts and attributes." Howard averaged 21.5 points, 16 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots in the two regular season games against the Lakers, both Orlando wins.

The Lakers main weakness is handling a point guard who is quick. Unless Jameer Nelson makes a surprise appearance, the Magic don’t have a guard that can give the Lakers trouble as Rafer Alston does not have the speed to cause Los Angeles trouble. On the other side, Orlando has no player that can stop Kobe. In the two regular season meetings, Kobe averaged 34.5 points per game.

Orlando lives and dies with three-point shooting and they could be in trouble against the Lakers who had the third-lowest opponents' three-point field goal percentage in the regular season (34.5%), and the second-lowest in the postseason (31.3%).

Here are the NBA betting stats for Thursday’s game. The Magic are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Magic are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 vs. the Pacific. The Magic are 17-7 ATS in their last 24 games as a road underdog. The Magic are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings against the Lakers.

The Lakers are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 vs. the Southeast. The Lakers are 1-10-1 ATS in their last 12 NBA Championship games.

SBG Global Current Line: Lakers - 6 , Total 206

The Over is 4-0 in Orlando’s last 4 games as an underdog. The Over is 5-1 in Orlando’s last 6 overall.

The Under is 5-0 in the Lakers last 5 games as a home favorite. The Under is 8-2 in the Lakers last 10 overall. The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Los Angeles between the two teams.

NBA Playoff Preview

NBA Playoff Preview
Cleveland Cavaliers at Orlando Magic (Magic lead 3-2)
Saturday, 8:35 pm Eastern – TNT

SBG Global Opening Line: Magic - 2 , Total 192

The Cleveland Cavaliers are not done yet. The Cavaliers got a monster game out of LeBron James and won Game 5 at home against the Orlando Magic and now they will try and even the series on Saturday. James had 37 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists while Mo Williams added 24 points in Cleveland’s 112-102 win on Thursday.

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Magic at Home.

The game on Saturday should be exciting as the Magic look to close out the Cavaliers. Cleveland is trying to become just the ninth team since 1947 to win a best-of-seven series after trailing 3-1. "They deserved to get this one," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said, "As poorly as I thought we played, we still were there with chances to win and didn't get it done. We have to get ready to go on Saturday."

The game on Saturday will come down to Orlando’s ability to keep James under control, something they have rarely done. "The game is basically all LeBron, all the time," Van Gundy said. "If he gets in the paint, it's automatically a foul. One of the things we have to do, we can't keep putting him on the line 20 times a game. We have to find a way to stop that."

Here are the NBA betting stats for Saturday’s game. The Cavaliers are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games. The Cavaliers are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Cavaliers are 2-14 ATS in the last 16 meetings against Orlando and the Cavaliers are 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Orlando

SBG Global Current Line: Magic - 2 , Total 193

The Magic are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games. The Magic are 42-20-1 ATS in their last 63 Saturday games.

The Over is 7-1 in the Cavaliers last 8 Conference Finals games. The Under is 5-1 in the Cavaliers last 6 road games. The Under is 27-10 in Orlando’s last 37 games as a home favorite. The Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between the two teams.

NBA Playoff Preview
Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets (Lakers lead 3-2)
Friday, 9:05 pm Eastern – ESPN

SBG Global Opening Line: Nuggets - 5 , Total 208

The Los Angeles Lakers will try and close out the Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday. The Nuggets have outplayed the Lakers for the most part in this series but at critical times they have made mistakes and they trail three games to two. "For most of the series, we outplayed them for most stretches of the game," Denver’s Chauncey Billups said. "We just couldn't get over the hump in the fourth quarter in a few different situations."

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Lakers on the Road.

The Nuggets have not played with much discipline in this series and it has cost them but head coach George Karl is not going to do anything different on Friday. "You guys are almost saying you've got to have savvy and poise to be a championship team," Karl told reporters, "I mean, you think the Detroit Pistons have the poise that the San Antonio Spurs have? No, I mean there's a different way of handling emotional, passionate, intense players. We have some guys who are emotional. Maybe a little too emotional. But for me, I'm not going to tell them to stop that because I think that stops them from becoming a competitor.”

The Lakers have been so unpredictable in the playoffs that anything is possible in Game 6. If Los Angeles brings their best game they could end this series but rarely have the Lakers played great in back-to-back games.
"That's what the conversation has been about this entire postseason, our team, our potential and our capabilities," Derek Fisher said.

Here are the NBA betting stats for Friday’s game. The Lakers are 21-8-2 ATS in their last 31 games as a road underdog. The Lakers are 12-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings between the two teams.

The Nuggets are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a home favorite. The Nuggets are 21-6 ATS in their last 27 games overall.

SBG Global Current Line: Nuggets - 5.5 , Total 208.5

The Under is 9-1 in the Lakers last 10 Conference Finals games. The Under is 11-4 in the Lakers last 15 road games.

The Over is 11-5 in the Nuggets last 16 games as a home favorite. The Under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Denver between the two teams.

NBA Betting Preview - Orlando Magic vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

NBA Playoff Preview
Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers (Magic lead 3-1)
Thursday, 8:35 pm Eastern – TNT

SBG Global Opening Line: Cavaliers - 7.5 , Total 190

The Orlando Magic are one win away from returning to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1994-95. The Magic will try and close out the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Magic got an exciting 116-114 overtime win on Tuesday as Dwight Howard scored 27 points, 10 in overtime, to lead the Magic past LeBron James and the Cavaliers. "We're up 3-1, but we can't relax," Orlando’s Rashard Lewis said, "Anything can happen. We got to go to Cleveland looking to try and close these guys out." The Magic have already proven they can win on the road in the playoffs as they eliminated the Celtics in Game 7 in the last round and they nearly took both of the first two games in Cleveland in this series.

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Magic on the Road.

The Cavaliers are likely to be very inspired to extend the series on Thursday. Cleveland had the best home record in the NBA this season and it is unlikely that LeBron James will go quietly. He is averaging 42.3 points, 7.3 rebound and 7.3 assists in the series. "I'm up for the challenge," James said. "And I think my play, my leadership has spoke for that. So I will be ready, and I think our guys will be ready also."

The Magic are well aware that this series if far from over. "This thing is a long, long, long way from over, just like the games in this series have been," Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy said, "When you've got a guy as great as him on the other side, you're a long way from done."

History is on Orlando’s side though. A total of 190 teams have taken a 3-1 series lead and only eight of them have lost. The other main problem for Cleveland is that they simply don’t matchup well with Orlando. The Magic have won 10 of the past 14 games against Cleveland.

Here are the NBA betting stats for Thursday’s game. The Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 playoff games as an underdog. The Magic are 7-0 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Cleveland.

SBG Global Current Line: Cavaliers - 7.5 , Total 190

The Cavaliers are 14-4-1 ATS in their last 19 playoff games as a favorite. The Cavaliers are 36-16 ATS in their last 52 games as a home favorite.

The Under is 23-11 in Orlando’s last 34 overall. The Over is 6-1 in the Cavaliers last 7 Conference Finals games. The Under is 14-6-1 in the Cavaliers last 21 games as a home favorite. The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.

Monday 25 May 2009

Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets (Lakers lead 2-1)

NBA Playoff Preview
Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets (Lakers lead 2-1)
Monday, 9:05 pm Eastern – ESPN

SBG Global Opening Line: Nuggets - 4.5 , Total 209.5

The Denver Nuggets suddenly face a must-win game on Monday night as they host the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. The Nuggets were surprised at home in Game 3 as the Lakers won 103-97 to take a 2-1 series lead. It was the first loss at home in more than two months for Denver.

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Nuggets at Home.

The Nuggets shot the ball poorly in Game 3 and shot way too many 3-pointers. "We'd go up seven, eight points and trying to get the building to erupt," Denver’s Kenyon Martin said. "We've done that so much during the season and throughout the playoffs. So, we figured that's the way it was going to be. And it's not always going to be that way. You've got to grind it out sometimes, take the tough two or get to the line and score points that way." The Nuggets left the Lakers in the game and Kobe Bryant took over late to win the game for Los Angeles. "I think we got caught up in the emotion of the moment of a great crowd, a great challenge," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "I think we tried to hit too many home runs rather than just take a single here, a double here and win the game that way. We tried to hit too many bombs.”

The mistakes that the Nuggets made cost them home court advantage which they had gained by winning Game 2 in Los Angeles. Now they must win on Monday to have any kind of chance to win this series.
The Lakers realize they were fortunate to win on Saturday and know they must play better. "We've got to come out with more focus, more energy and really just execute a lot better in the defensive end of the floor," said Bryant.

Here are the NBA betting stats for Monday’s game. The Lakers are 21-7-2 ATS in their last 30 games as a road underdog. The Lakers are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Denver.

The Nuggets are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games. The Nuggets are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games overall.

SBG Global Current Line: Nuggets - 4.5 , Total 208.5

The Under is 6-0 in the Lakers last 6 vs. the Northwest. The Under is 8-0 in the Lakers last 8 Conference Finals games. The Under is 5-1 in the Lakers last 6 road games. The Under is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in Denver between the two teams.
